So Israel Folau has been involved in his fair share of controversy over the last couple of years. Mainly for his off field twitter comments that have generated a lot of negative attention from a number of different parties.
But if you do not know the story i will give you a brief overview. A couple of years ago Folau posted his first controversial post about the LGBT community which generated a lot of attention and got him in hot water with the ARU and also with his club the Waratahs.
After this he released another statement again which negatively impacted the LGBT community, although this time it cost him more than a telling off from the ARU, this time it cost him a his place in the Australian squad and a chance to play in the world cup.
This then led to him getting sacked from the ARU and the Waratahs and cost him his $1.5million a year salary.
He then set out to sue the ARU and won.
This led to yet another comment from Folau on twitter in sighting more controversy.
So this was surely the last thing we where going to hear from the Folau saga but oh know it was announced this week that the Super League side Catalan Dragons have signed the controversial player on a year contract.
This has raised a lot of talking points within the rugby community and a number of teams have expressed their opinions on the signing and it is not all good news.
Folau surely has only got one more chance at this and really needs to keep his twitter feed clear of all negative comments that bring unwanted attention to the game.
In my opinion the Catalan Dragons have taken a massive risk in signing the player and need to keep him under close watch for the time he is with the club. With Wigan announcing the game against Catalan on the same weekend as the Wigan pride is Folau going to be able to keep is thoughts to himself long enough to see out the season.
