So Saracens are in trouble, big trouble for breaking the salary cap this year and for the past 3/4 years.
But are there more teams that have broken the cap and are the teams currently breaking the cap?
Personally i think that although there is no proof of any teams other the Saracens breaking the cap currently there has been teams who have broken it in the past.
Bath got in trouble for it back 2014/15 with the signing of Sam Burgess putting them over the cap and they received a fine. Also Saracens and Gloucestershire have been guilty in previous years of breaking the cap and where given fines.
This season however is different with Saracens breaking the cap by far more than by a few thousand pounds.
I believe that there are teams in the Premiership other than Saracens who are breaking the cap. Teams like Bristol who have stayed very quiet though this process are front runners for me to be breaking the cap, with huge money signing joining the club like Kyle SInckler plus a number of high paid current players there will be questioned asked about what they are doing to stay under the cap.
Even if the teams are currently under the cap there will have to be something done in the long term regarding the squad size and how much individual players can earn.
For the clubs to have good depth in their squads and to start making money rather than loosing it the rise in salaries need to slow down and caps on individual salaries need to be brought in. This will mean that squads can increase in size as clubs wont need to cut squad players to make up the salaries for the top players demanding more money.
