Saracens Players will they stay or go?

Saracens owners and management have made comments regarding the future of the players at the club and if they will stay in the Premiership, the club and management seem to on the surface at least have every confidence that a large number of the players will stay at the club while they are in the Championship.

I on the other hand am not so sure about this.

That is not to say that i think all players will leave, I do believe that some of the players within the current squad will stay at the club but they are more likely to be the players who are either not up for international selection and players that are still under contract with the club but are not the big earners.

A lot of the players who are not the big earners will be able to fit under the Salary cap for Saracens and will most likely be able to continue there contracts with the club while they are in the Championship.

The big question what is going to happen with the top players who are paid big money at the club and are current international players, players like Owen Farrell and Jamie George.

How can Saracens keep all these players? the club is clearly not in a position to keep them, the club is clearly hiding something as they excepted the relegation rather than open their books which i think shows they have something to hide. Due to fact they are going to have to be so compliant with the salary cap in the future how can they find room to pay these players so much more than they will be paying the rest of them?

I understand that players have got to show loyalty to the club as they go though this process but i do think that the loyalty will waver when it comes to there future in the game.

With players like Ben Earl final making his when into England selection going down to the Championship will not do his career any good that goes for a number of other players who are on the cusp of selection to the squad.

And then there is the big players, are they really going to give up there International careers and a chance to be a Lion for a Club that has not been honest with them and has put them into this position where they now have to make this decision? I don't think so. They will eventually put there careers before the club.

Premiership clubs now have a opportunity to make some very good signings of the back of this, knowing that players will want to stay in the premiership but will have to take a pay cut to do so could well mean that Premiership clubs get some great bargains when looking to sign top new players next season. Premiership clubs will make room on the Salary cap for some of these players providing they are willing to take pay cuts.

If i am honest unless they move to France or Japan they will have to take pay cuts if they drop down to the Championship, not only do they have to stay under the cap they also will not make the same sort of revenue as they do in the Premiership and they also will not be in Europe which means they miss the revenue from that.

SO in conclusion will some players stay at the club? Yes of course but it will not be the big money players, i believe that a number of those players will leave the club, weather they go overseas or stay in England is another matter but with there future Internationals careers on the line it is hard to see they dropping to the Championship next season.
