Six Nations, who will come out on top?

We have now had two weeks of Six Nations action. We have seen some great performances and some poor performances, questionable selections, brilliant tries and bruising defence.

This years competition has shown a couple of stand out points, firstly this years competition is much more physical than in previous years and when watching the games you can really feel the impact of the hits.

And secondly and more importantly i do believe that after the first two weeks this years Six Nations is going to by a battle for the grand slam between France and Ireland.

Why do i think this?

Well firstly France have looked brilliant the last couple of weeks, walking over Italy on Sunday and putting in one of their best performances in recent years against England the previous week which lead to them dominating the English in Paris.

For the first time in a while France are back as world beaters. I know it seems like a big comment to make after two games but if we look back at how they played in the world cup and what positive game plan they had , it is no surprise that they have started the Six Nations in such a storm.

France where a sleeping giant just waiting for the right set up. The French RFU have made some great selections in the coaching team and that coaching team have made some brilliant player selections.

They are a team full of youth but also have a good deal of experience within the squad which is all controlled and balanced by the coaching team.

Shaun Edwards has come in and has had a dramatic positive effect on the defence and the work rate of the France team and has turned them from sleeping giant to world beaters. If they keep going the way they are the top teams in the world are going to have to watch.

Ireland may of had a rocky start to the competition against Scotland but they still won and the mark of a good team is a team that can win ugly.

However the performance they put in against Wales was brilliant and very dominate. Not allowing the Welsh to get into there game and keeping a solid defence. We saw the a very different Irish team last week, dangerous in attack and physical in defence, they where able to launch attacks from anywhere on the pitch and we final saw the game plan that Farrell wants in place moving forward.

We these two teams showing the ability to attack from any position on the field and to defend in a structured and physical way which holds teams out, there penalty counts are also low and they dont leave much space on the field for teams to attack.

Its is looking like the grand slam decider will be France vs Ireland and that is going to be a tough one to call.
